How to Get Rid of Short Hairs That Stick Up
Comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb instead of with a brush when it is wet. Brushing wet hair causes breakage, according to "The Hair Bible." Combing prevents the breakage that frequently causes flyaways and also helps to smooth the appearance of short hairs sticking up.

Moisturize your hair daily with a high-quality conditioner. This prevents breakage and smooths existing flyaways. It also makes your hair more resistant to the static electricity that often causes flyaways to stick up.
3
Apply a shine serum to areas of your hair that tend to stick up after your hair is dry. These serums are very oily, so most people need only a nickel-sized drop to cover their entire hair. For spot treatment of flyaways, apply a tiny dab to the affected area.
4
Prevent static electricity from causing flyaways to stick up. To do this, spray a paddle hairbrush with a light hairspray, then brush through your hair. Avoid excessive brushing, especially during the winter months. This can activate static electricity in your hair and cause flyaways to stick up.
